Improving surface quality in selective laser melting based tool making

Abstract In the last years, Additive Manufacturing, thanks to its capability of continuous improvements in performance and cost-efficiency, was able partly replace redefine well-established manufacturing processes. This research is based on idea achieve great cost operational benefits especially field tool making for injection molding by combining traditional additive one process chain. Special attention given surface quality terms roughness optimization directly Selective Laser Melting process. article presents possibility a remelting SLM parts as way optimize surfaces produced parts. The influence laser analyzed while varying machine parameters like power scan settings. with optimized parameter settings considerably improves starting point further post-processing techniques, which require low initial value roughness.
